Big Adventures Start Small

Every young rider remembers the bike that gave them the confidence to explore further.

The 2027 COMMENCAL RAMONES 20 is designed for young riders ready to move beyond the footpath and discover the fun of riding on dirt, gravel, grass and easy trails.

With a lightweight aluminium frame, wide 20-inch tyres, 7-speed SHIMANO gearing and disc brakes designed for smaller hands, the RAMONES 20 brings the feel of a proper mountain bike to younger riders.

Designed for children approximately 115–130cm tall, generally around 5–6 years old, it's a capable and easy-to-manage bike that encourages independence, skill development and plenty of time outdoors.

Whether it's an afternoon at the local pump track, a family ride around Noosa or a first adventure on the trails, the RAMONES 20 is ready to join in.

Built for Young Riders, Not Just Made Smaller

COMMENCAL has designed the RAMONES 20 specifically around the proportions and abilities of younger riders.

The aluminium frame and rigid fork keep the bike relatively light and straightforward to maintain, while the geometry encourages a comfortable, controlled riding position.

Short 127mm cranks suit smaller legs, and a child-specific cockpit makes it easier to steer and control the bike.

• Frame: Lightweight 6061 aluminium
• Fork: Rigid 6061 aluminium
• Wheels: 20-inch front and rear
• Crank length: 127mm, designed for younger riders
• Handlebar: RIDE ALPHA Kids, 600mm wide

By keeping the bike simple and using components designed for children, COMMENCAL has created a bike that young riders can enjoy as their confidence and ability develop.

7-Speed SHIMANO Gearing – Easy to Learn, Fun to Ride

Learning how to change gears is an important step for young cyclists.

The RAMONES 20 features a 7-speed SHIMANO Tourney drivetrain with a Revoshift twist shifter, making gear changes simple and intuitive.

The wide-range 11–34T cassette gives young riders useful gearing for gentle climbs, flat paths and exploring varied terrain.

A dedicated chain guide helps keep the chain in place, reducing interruptions while riding.

• Drivetrain: SHIMANO Tourney, 7-speed
• Shifter: SHIMANO Revoshift twist shifter
• Cassette: S-RIDE 11–34T
• Crankset: COMMENCAL Kids, 127mm
• Chainring: 30T with chain protection

Disc Brakes Designed for Smaller Hands

Good braking control is an important part of learning to ride confidently.

The RAMONES 20 features TEKTRO Aries mechanical disc brakes with brake levers designed specifically for children.

Paired with 160mm rotors front and rear, the system provides predictable braking for paths, gravel and beginner trails.

The child-specific levers make it easier for smaller hands to reach and operate the brakes, helping young riders develop control as their skills improve.

Wide Tyres for More Places to Explore

The RAMONES 20 rolls on wide 20 × 2.6-inch VEE TIRE CrownGem tyres.

Their generous volume and knobbly tread provide traction and comfort across a variety of surfaces, including dirt, grass, gravel and compacted trails.

For young riders beginning to explore beyond sealed paths, these tyres provide a more forgiving ride and useful grip on uneven ground.

Combined with the bike's rigid aluminium fork, they keep the setup simple while allowing children to enjoy different types of terrain.

Finding the Right Size at Venture Cycles Noosa

When choosing a children's bike, getting the size right makes a big difference.

A bike that's too large can be difficult to manage, particularly when starting, stopping or learning new skills. Rather than buying something they'll eventually grow into, we recommend choosing a bike that fits comfortably now.

The COMMENCAL RAMONES 20 is designed for riders approximately 115–130cm tall, but height is only part of the picture.

At Venture Cycles in Noosaville, we encourage parents to bring their young rider into the shop so we can check their position, handlebar reach and ability to operate the brakes comfortably.

Our children's bikes come fully assembled, with a free first service within three months to check how everything is settling in.

Whether they're riding around the neighbourhood, discovering the local pump tracks or heading out on family adventures, we're here to help them get started on the right bike.
